As the rain drips off my hood I push open the door of the unassuming shop front of Drekker Brewing Company and to my surprise I'm greeted by the wide open space. Tables filled with people enjoying their beers. Some laughing, some eagerly await the live band setting up and others in serious contemplation of a new beer they are trying. I meander up to the bar that wraps around to the brewing floor and stand their mulling over the diverse choice of beer in their line up. People sit, stand and buzz around the bar ordering and asking question then when its my turn the cheerful bartender puts me on track with a delicious sour beer.
Drekker Brewing company is a cool, upbeat brewery that was born (like most great breweries) from friends home brewing in a garage. From these humble beginnings Jesse, Mark, Darin and Mason have created a brewery that shouts craft beer from it's ever changing choice of beer styles to the happy, knowledgeable bartenders enthusiastic to help you push your craft beer boundaries.
After finishing my pint I head back to the bar to pick up a growler and some cans to go and am lucky enough to meet up with Jesse. Jesse is one of the breweries founders and introduces himself as the Director of Nerdery at Drekker. He is the whizz behind the marketing and social media, so most likely if you have ever messaged them, he is the guy you talked to. His easy going , upbeat manner and obvious love of craft beer is awesome. Although he is the marketing and media guy he also helps with brewing when needed and points out the head brewer who is clearing tables which just goes to show how in trenched these guys are in making their brewery a success.
So far I have tried their Pushing Daisies witbier and Techno Viking berliner weisse and haven't been disappointed. In fact after finishing this article i'm heading back to the fridge to top up my glass with some some Milk Maiden Stout. So if you are living in, staying in or even just passing by Fargo I would suggest you drop in and check them out. If you love craft beer it would be a crime not too!
